It wasn't a stare, not really. Just a glance. Three seconds too long for it to be a casual look, but not long enough to mean something. That's how it always started with Aidan.

The hallway buzzed with noise. Bags zipped, students laughing and teachers yelling. But I couldn't hear any of it because he was there, and in that moment, it was like the world tilted just slightly in his direction.

He didn't say anything. He never did.
