16 year old May baker hopes to have the perfect summer. Go to the beach, hang out with friends, maybe go on a trip or two and maybe even get a boyfriend. But when her parents announce that they're going to visit her aunt Mable who's getting up in years, lives in an old house that's seen better days and to top it off, seems to own like 20 pairs of old shoes that she never got rid of or wear for that matter. So when they get there, aunt Mable suggests that she attends the summer of lights that happens over summer break with her friend's grandson Jake, who's also visiting for the summer. At first, may thinks it'll be a disaster but when her and jake begin to get closer, she begins to question her idea of the perfect summer and what it means to truly live.

Naomi is a girl who lives with her best firend and has her boyfriend living right across the street and she's a really smart and liked student at her school. Also her boyfriend is the quarterback. She's living the dream for a 16 year old girl right? that is until her best friend Jane wants to go to a One Direction concert, but see Naomi likes One Direction but not as much as Jane does and when the boys get into a pickle after the concert Jane decides to try and help them. With their boyfirends being overprotective over their girls and One Direction being just as confused as they are it seems like it's goingto be a bumpy ride.
