It starts the way it would have to start, in order for their arrangement to be realistic. With a sudden inarguable need. After that, 'need' slowly warped until it was defendable convenience, and at a certain point that neither of them would ever cop to, it became a want. Then, eventually at some point unknown to even them, it became love.
Or, what happens when two teenagers get pushed together by forced desperation, but stay together because there isn't really anyone else, is there? And then, even when there is someone else, they stay together anyway.

Dick Grayson always questioned his decision, and hoped he could get his best friend to understand the why behind it. He didn't like what had to happen, but it was the split second decision, than ended up saving his best friend's life. He wished sometimes he could turn back the clock, and prevent it all...but he couldn't. Now, even his best friend couldn't. And it was all his fault. His own best friend, the person he secretly was in love with, couldn't run, because he was now a paraplegic. (This is somewhat based off of Grey's Anatomy's Arizona Robbins losing her leg, and the decision that Callie made to save the love of her life) The art is mine, and it will be rated mature, because it is Birdflash and deals with some hard issues. The Inheritance: Part 1
They had an agreement that for Jason's sake, she'd keep her distance. But when he dies a few weeks short of his sixteenth birthday, it becomes her biggest regret. So, what if he'd had a crush on her? She shouldn't have ever set foot in Gotham again, but Bruce was going down a dark path, and they both needed Joker to pay for what he did. The clown remains elusive, and she can't deny that Bruce's violence is rubbing off on her. When they finally catch him, things don't end well for any of them, and she's driven further than Bludhaven in search of herself. It starts as a cover, a cathartic act to help her work through her emotions, but her pain runs deeper, and the only relief she finds is in another young mercenary, who has almost as much as her to hide, and a similar taste in red.
