Sometimes I wonder what it would feel like... to touch sunlight.

I am twenty one today. And I have never seen the world.

But something in me is stirring. Not fear. Not longing.

A pull.

A promise.

A question: what if there's still something left for us up there?

And I think... I might be the one to find out.

Elira has never seen the sky.

Born into the rusted womb of Bunker 12-one of the last underground shelters after Earth was overtaken by the Vorr, terrifying surface-dwellers who ended the age of humanity-Elira's entire life has been confined to steel corridors, recycled oxygen, and silence. At twenty-one, she knows her place: work hard, obey the Elders, and never ask what's above.

But questions have a way of clawing their way to the surface.

When a maintenance error leads her to a hidden passage and a map of the surface long thought destroyed, Elira finds herself face to face with the possibility that the world outside isn't as dead as she was taught. Whispers of forbidden zones, long-abandoned secrets, and unexplained disappearances push her deeper into the lies that hold their fragile underground society together.

As the bunker edges toward collapse politically, structurally, and morally Elira must choose: cling to the safety of the cage she was born into, or risk everything to break through it.

Hope didn't die with the surface. It was buried. And Elira is ready to dig.

A slow-burn dystopian mystery about power, survival, and the quiet rebellion of a girl who refuses to live without knowing the truth.

| 𝟳𝘅 𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘𝗗 ·|| HUNGER GAMES x CINDER || ONC 2023 Honorable Mention Amidst the escalating unrest between the windborne utopian city of Lighthaven and its seedy, oppressed underbelly Fumedge, the Grand Duke of Lighthaven, Lucius Sextus, comes up with an ingenious solution. To provide much-wanted respite from the brewing conflict, and achieve the apparent-if-temporary unity, he organizes Gaslight Trials - a highly entertaining panem-et-circenses combat event in the Pits. The combatants may use all steam and thaumaturgy powered augmentations at their disposal, and there is only one rule: defeat, or be defeated. The reward for the last one standing? A chance to start their life anew. A brass key to the city of Lighthaven with a luxurious mansion to call their own within, as well as an aeroship to command. When eighteen-year-old Veda Igglesden steps forward to take her timeworn adoptive father's place in the fight, she might as well be signing her death-sentence. With her eyes fully set on the prize, act-first-think-later Veda must harness the power of technology to try and win for her Papa Otto. Decades of breathing in the toxic air of Fumedge did a number on the old inventor's lungs, and being able to live in the air-filtered Lighthaven would sure come in handy right about now. A high-flying adventure full of gadgetry and intrigue; a pleasing blend of steampunk and postapocalyptic. See Veda unravel the mysterious ploy behind the game's organization, and uncover the truth about her secret origins. Can she cope both with the trials of physical and intellectual prowess, as well as with the trials of life itself: those of love, loss and regret? © 2023 EvelynHail Exclusively on Wattpad Based on prompt 49! Which is (I shan't leave ye hanging :P): "Master the rules of the game until you can play it better than they can." Michael Scott, "The Sorceress" Get ready for steampunkish tinkering,

A dystopian thriller that evolves into a violent sci-fi nightmare with hints of monster (very) dark romance. --------- Alice has a good life: a great job, a cozy, paid-off apartment, and a loving husband. She also has an oppressive government, a war-torn city, and general social decay around her, and what seems to be an alien invasion, though nobody is willing to admit it. You know, the kind of things that can really throw a wrench into a morning commute. She should have left a long time ago, but right or wrong, it's her country. What's the worst that could happen? No, seriously, what's literally the worst? ------ It starts as my lightest and most melancholic work, but will end up the heaviest -- expect constantly rising tension as we go from moody dystopia into politics and philosophy into bdsm and violence, and into... oh well, read it. Overarching themes: evolution, adaptation, duty, freedom, metal music. The first 10 chapters are a clean, dystopian, political story. From 11th chapter on, wheels come off. I tried to make it sound universal; still, you can figure out approximately when I had it first outlined. Warnings (from chapter 11 on): violence, attempted SA, dubcon, smut. ----------- If you are reading this story on any other platform other than Wattpad you are very likely to be at risk of a malware attack. After the Earth's magnetic field collapsed, the planet was bombarded with unfiltered solar radiation. The skies burned. Cities turned to dust. Survivors now live in massive airborne citadels, floating high above the toxic surface in a fragile balance of climate, class, and control. Each citizen's survival depends on a Glass Heart - a biomechanical implant powered by solar energy, calibrated to their social rank. The elite bask in artificial sunlight and live for centuries. The lower castes, confined to the shadowed underlayers, burn out fast - their hearts dimming with every passing year. Aella, born in the shadow-tier, works as a solar mechanic, servicing the light panels that keep the city afloat. One wrong move, and she risks exposure to raw light - a death sentence. She lives quietly, surviving by routine... until one night, she's ordered to repair a core in the upper citadel. There, she meets Cassian, a solar prince with a perfect Glass Heart - blindingly bright, surgically beautiful, and destined to rule the sky. Their connection is immediate. Impossible. Reckless. Every moment Aella spends near him overcharges her failing heart, threatening to burn her alive. Every second Cassian defies his caste by being with her dims his - an irreversible sign of corruption. But as their stolen encounters grow deeper, they uncover a secret buried in the light system: the citadel is failing. The elite's immortality depends on draining the hearts of the poor. Every bright Glass Heart comes at the cost of hundreds of dimmed ones. Including Aella's. They can run - and die faster. Or they can ignite a revolution powered by love, truth, and the one thing the elite can't manufacture: sacrifice. Because love isn't forbidden. It's just fatal.

In a future where the elite trade lives like currency and loyalty is enforced through collars and control, survival isn't a right-it's a contract. Miku and Clara were just sixteen when they escaped a death maze with nothing but blood in their mouths and hope in their lungs. They thought that meant forever. It wasn't. Clara vanished. Word said she was dead. Traded. Sold. Miku learned to stop trusting word. Three years later, Miku is no longer the girl Clara kissed in the ruins. She's a weapon now. Hardened. Trained. Built for vengeance. The mission is simple: locate the missing. Extract, if alive. Eliminate, if not. Until she finds Clara again-alive, changed, and wearing the collar of the enemy. Torn between orders and memory, between the girl she once knew and the one the world turned Clara into, Miku has to make a choice: finish the mission... or finish what they started. No heroes. No safe endings. Just two broken girls caught in a system that doesn't care if they live or burn.
