As a cut off angel, it's hard to blend in with the normal crowd.
However, Castiel is doing quite fine, outliving everyone else as a simple cashier at the local Gas 'n Sip. Sure, he may never understand humans, but it's a privilege to watch them go about their simple lives, while never progressing in his own.
He just has no desire to; seeing that he hasn't found anyone worth falling - literally and metaphorically - for.

During a dangerous case with Sam and Dean something goes wrong and Castiel goes missing, this isn't like the other times Cas has disappeared, this is different, it's strange even for Cas. With Castiel gone Dean doesn't eat or sleep he just drinks and prays wondering if Cas can hear him. Day and night he checks the newspapers and police reports from every city, and county in the US for any sign of the trench coat angel. With no leads things become even more bleaker. Dean throws himself down a hole, and Sam is becoming increasingly worried about about Dean so he seeks out help from from another angel to see if they know anything about the whereabouts of Castiel. Castiel is lost he doesn't know where he is or who he is. He just goes where his feet take him. He never eats or sleeps but he doesn't he have to, he doesn't know why he doesn't eat and it doesn't bother him much cause it would just slow him down. He remembers nothing about Sam or Dean or even himself for that matter, but something is itching at the wall in the back of his head trying to break through, it wants to get out but can't. He gets fragments of things every so often but they are of pain and torture and a redhead he doesn't know the name of. One day a pleasant memory comes through the cracks in his wall he can't place where it came from. The only thing he knows is he needs to find the man with the stunning green eyes. Dean Winchester lived on Maple Road in a small town in Indiana. His younger, much taller brother, Sam, lived on Creek circle the next town over. His father was an old drunk constantly in hospitals and jails from being over intoxicated. He had his old uncle Bobby there as a father figure but he lived three states away, making him hard to see often. Now both brothers were quite lonely despite the girlfriends they both had. Dean had Lisa, a women who has short term memory loss. Sam has Jess who was getting sick with fevers from left and right. Both Winchester boys were sick of all of this work. Dean with having to deal with taking Lisa out on first dates almost every week to try and spark her memory. Then Sam constantly in the hospital because Jess was burning up. They also had to deal with there jobs, the older one worked at his mechanics shop, the younger was a lawyer. Now both were planning on spending Christmas alone. Dean in the shop and Sam in his library. Christmas was never something they could get into, everything was just too canny. But then they both get some new neighbors and began to discover some feelings they never knew were there.Complete
