Rose, a high school girl, finds herself in a messy love square with three boys: Luca Hayes (the school's rockstar heartthrob she secretly likes), Ethan Brooks (her childhood best friend), and Miles Carter (the headteacher's son).
When they all find out about each other in the cafeteria, a full-on competition starts - Luca writes songs for her, Ethan becomes her bodyguard, and Miles uses his dad's power to make her life easier. The rivalry turns the whole school into an audience, ending in a blow-up at the Spring Dance where Rose grabs the mic and tells them she's not picking anyone.
Months later, Luca finds her at the park and plays her a new song - not to win, but just to keep her in his music - leaving the door open for... maybe.
