Barry and Iris have been having problems in their relationship since the birth of Nora and the two had been arguing 24/7 over nothing. It got to a point where Barry was sick of his marriage and wanted out.
Kara was tired of watching everyone in her life get everything she wanted. She had outed herself as Supergirl and that she got a lot of publicity but it didn't please her Kara didn't really want the attention when she did that she just wanted to feel free.
