He didn't open his eyes. He didn't say a word.

Just reached up, the warmth of his hand finding my wrist like he'd done it a thousand times before, like it was his, and always had been.

"Not yet," he said softly, like the words cost him something."Not when you're going to forget me tomorrow."

His face was quiet, still, resting in the kind of calm that only comes after surrender. Like he'd already memorised this moment and was simply waiting for the forgetting to begin.

"Then make tonight unforgettable," I said, my voice a little steadier than I expected. "So when I do forget...some part of me remembers how it felt to be yours."
