Who knew we'd get this far. --- "Real fiction." That's what I call it. 98% accurate. The other 2%? Made up of half-remembered conversations I had to rewrite because-shocker-I don't have a perfect memory of every emotionally-charged interaction from years ago. Sue me. To be honest, it's kind of hilarious how book-ish our lives turned out. Like, we were one metaphor away from being a coming-of-age novel with a tragic backstory, soft angst, and the occasional emotionally stunted platonic love interest (spoiler: it was all of us, emotionally stunted was the love interest). Sometimes I look back and think: There's no way we actually said that. But hey, if we didn't? We definitely would've. Probably. Hopefully. So no, this isn't 100% word-for-word true. But the feelings? The chaos? The Plot? The ugly cries and weird jokes and the way it all felt like the end of the world but also kinda magical? That part's real. So here it is: the almost-accurate, slightly dramatized, deeply chaotic retelling of memories that mattered. Straight from the brain fog of my teen years. Edited for emotional clarity and comedic relief.
