Thrust into the fires of combat, Corporal Howells leads two other guardsmen under his command through his first real experience of full-out warfare on the front lines of one of the many Imperium planets that have decided to defect.
(This is my first ever story I've properly written, its not finished and its more of a pass time/passion project, hope to write as I go.

A story set in the Warhammer 40k universe that I entered into the recent Black Library submissions window. A Planetary Defense Force squad led by a former Imperial Guard trooper are sent on a mission to a seemingly innocuous facility in the vast forests of their home world. Before long, the true nature of the situation at Facility IX becomes clear, and the squad are in a fight for their lives against a terrifying and insidious enemy. Seeds of Humanity: Partisan
It has been five years since the Nrac Imperium invaded the worlds of the Terran Sovereignty, kicking off the First Contact War. The ensuing conflict was long and bloody, leaving both sides broken and bruised, but in the end, humanity was able to force the nrac into a retreat thanks to the valiant efforts of their Soldier Caste. But even after a year of peace, many still suffer in the aftermath. As humanity picks up the pieces, the nrac quietly rebuild their fleet in a distant star system. Unbeknownst to the terrans, the nrac have long occupied the forgotten world of Renatus, tyrannically ruling over its technologically inferior human inhabitants for nearly a decade.
