Book Two in the Erys fan fiction series: If you haven't already, read Erys first. SPOILERS for book one included:

Now a cripple, Erys has lost all hope. She has failed in her quest to free her mother from a life of slavery. Her injury at the hands of her friend has left her paraplegic. Her will is breaking, her spirit crushed. Helgrind is no longer safe, and there is no healer within the Republic who can heal her; Roran believes the only healers who can aid her wait in Ellesméra, beyond the border of Du Weldenvarden.

Disheartened by betrayal and death, Erys must flee from the New Republic. With no allies and nowhere to tun she and the Free Riders must stand strong against a larger, stronger enemy. With war on their doorstep they must flee or fight. But their enemy has yet to unveil their greatest weapon, and they still pursue Erys with a vengeance. Neither do Erys and her companions fight one single enemy; they face a war on two fronts, with the Republic and Carvahall.

With the threat of a prophecy hanging over her head, Erys must know friend from foe and end her enemies' rise to power before they destroy what little hope remains.

Twelve-hundred years ago, the first king of Sacreon led a rebellion against an empire of witches. The war for who would rule next continues to this day. A false guise of peace came over Ert after two genocides, but there is no one so foolish as to claim the fighting is done. A prophecy claims that war will return to Ert when the moons are full once again on Ascenday. That day is growing closer now, and there is not a fool in the warring nations who does not dread its coming. In the midst of this all, the heirs to Sacreon struggle to find their place in this world of kings and knights and gods and elves and witches. A princess falls for someone she cannot hope to have, prince travels south to broker an alliance, a warrior seeks vengeance for the death of her sister. and the heir to a long forgotten kingdom quests for glory. Behind all of this, one man journeys north to an island of long forgotten magic with plans of justice, and The Wolf Witch goes west, searching for the one who can stop this war and unite Ert once again: The Silver Girl. Note: The Wolf Witch is meant to be a prequel to this book, and Sora will make an appearance, but she will not be a main character. By the way I take huge inspiration and influence from A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones so if you like that you'll probably like this (and my other writings I hope). Cover created by the most excellent @apprehensiveanne. It's very cool.

Previously a soldier for the King, now betrothed to his son, Prince Roan, Emrys Ortega is starting to feel the burden of the title she never wanted. After repeatedly sneaking out of the palace leads to a sinister threat from the King, Emrys begins to worry for her family's safety. So when she learns that one of her kingdom's soldiers has been kidnapped by the Queen of another Kingdom, Valoria, she sees this as her opportunity to redeem herself in the King's eyes and protect her family. The only problem is that she had no idea the Kingdom of Valoria even existed. In fact, the Kingdom is unlike her own. It's filled with the same monsters from the stories she had been told-monsters of the night.
