Five years after the bombs fell, Cyprus is quiet-burned, broken, haunted. Survivors are rare. Hope, even rarer. One man still walks, carrying nothing but a recorder and the last voice message from the woman he loved: "Landing soon. I'll call you when I get there." She never did. But he's going to find her. His journey takes him across a shattered world-through the ruins of his home, across survivor camps, past mutated horrors, and into alliances he doesn't yet understand. Alongside a mysterious captain and a foul-mouthed cook with a good heart, he begins a desperate journey from Latchi to the Middle East, hoping to reach Dubai-and Rose. But the world has changed. Something new is rising from the ashes. And not everything mutated lost its mind.

Years into the future, the world will enter a war worse than any it has ever seen before. New weapons will take out tens of millions of people at a time. The aftermath will see the obliteration of almost every human. Five years later, those still alive are finally developing civilization. *** I wake up in the colony of Sentrus not knowing anything about myself but my name. I don't know how, but I'm able to fight. I'm able to kill. I try to fit in, but there are people who hate me--even to the point of death. I'm afraid and confused, looking for answers as to who I am, while at the same time trying to decide whether I truly want to be that person. I've been given a fresh start, but I can't tell if it's the best thing that could have happened to me or the worst. ••• "Best plot twist I've seen in long time!! Such a page tuner!" - Cyra Eden
