Dazai owned him in name, but Chuuya chose to stay. The collar still sat around his throat, the rules still echoed in the halls - but things had changed. What had once been survival was now something else. A quiet surrender, yes, but one born of trust, not fear. When their relationship finally began to settle into something real - something soft and strange and unspoken - the house changed with it. The wolves that once flinched at every shadow began to breathe easier. The servants who whispered behind closed doors now looked their way with something gentler in their eyes. Even the coldest corners of the estate felt a little less hollow. But peace built on cracked foundations never holds. Because the reason for the pain - the rot behind the walls - was still there. Still watching. Still ruling. And tearing out power that's rooted itself in centuries of blood is no easy thing. It never bleeds out quietly. It clings. It bites back. So even as comfort bloomed between them - even as Chuuya stayed and Dazai softened - the weight of what still lingered above them all began to shift. And soon, the cost of freedom would begin to show.

"Chuuya-" "I SAID LET GO OF ME!" Dazai hesitated for a moment, watching the anger and pain swirl in the other's eyes. Without warning, he pulled Chuuya into a tight embrace. To say it was a surpise would have been an understatement. Though Chuuya had quickly moved to shove the other away, the shove never came, rather he gripped the other's shirt and let out an agonizing scream of frustration. A soft sigh left Dazai as he felt the other cry against his chest, gently shushing him. "...You know, I may have disliked you a lot when we worked together in the mafia but you're much more tolerable now that you work for the agency with me. But I hope you know you aren't just some pawn. We do genuinely care about you," He said softly. "...I don't know whether I should be happy to hear that or kick your ass for that first statement," Chuuya replied with bitter laugh, sniffling a bit as he calmed himself down and wiped the tears from his eyes.
