During WWII period in Shanghai, Yinji, a fox spirit (or kitsune), ran a successful tea house that double as a trading place at night for a powerful substance known as the elixir of immortality. However, his usual trading was interrupted when Mia Leung an investigative journalist wanted to uncover his doing.

Lucy Caldwell suffered a disaster in her childhood - her house was burnt, which turned fatal for her parents. She grew up in a children's house together with other orphans.
