Amara Stark was never supposed to exist.

Born in the shadows of Tony Stark's past and stolen before she ever took her first breath in his arms, she became a myth whispered through Hydra's black halls and the Red Room's cold mirrors. They raised her not as a child, but as a weapon-a ghost in silk, a storm in skin, known only by her codename: Winter Widow.

Half assassin, half enigma, Amara's existence becomes a ticking time bomb when her latest mission collides with the Avengers... and the man she never knew was her father.

As memories start to bleed through the cracks Hydra couldn't seal, and as Natasha Romanoff begins to recognize too much of herself in the girl's eyes, the truth becomes undeniable.

She was never theirs. But now she doesn't know who she is without them.

Caught between the legacy of Iron and the chains of control, Amara must choose:

Will she rise as Tony Stark's daughter-or fall as Hydra's masterpiece?

One path leads to redemption. The other to ruin.

Either way, blood will be spilled.

Zola Barnes, daughter of Natasha Romanoff, and the adoptive daughter of Clint Barton is raised in the red room for the first few years of her life. She grew up to the feeling of the Winter Soldier's metal fist punishing her for every mistake she made. She was thirteen-year-old Natalia's liability in the red room, but she was Clint Barton's world once he took the two of them in instead of pursuing his mission to kill them. Their lives change as they work for SHIELD alongside Clint, run from their old captors with his help, and hide in hotels and safe houses. Though Zola can hardly speak English or understand what is happening to her, she builds relationships with her mother, whom she used to be denied of seeing. She gets closer to Clint, who she genuinely believed was her father. She didn't know any better. Thankfully, she was happy to lose the one relationship she never asked for. She'd longed for a father figure, but the relationships she had with everyone in the Red Room, especially the Winter soldier, were not that. As unfortunate as it was for Bucky, who wanted nothing more than to be a part of his daughter's life, he was forced to watch her grow up in someone else's care from a distance. They wiped him so often, he would hardly remember her, anyway. Still, in the small moments where he could remember, he hoped that one day he would win her trust back as Bucky, not the Winter Soldier that she knew. BOOK ONE IN ZOLA BARNES SERIES.

How precious is memory? What would you do if you began to suspect that your prolonged amnesia wasn't as much poor circumstance as it was deliberately induced? . . . | ☆ | . . . Two years prior to her first encounter with Bucky Barnes, Amara Walker had been involved in a fatal car accident resulting in both permanent retrograde amnesia as well as the death of her parents. With neither memory nor an identity to tell her past, the doctors couldn't say no when she was suddenly swept up by the famous billionaire superhero, Tony Stark, who claimed to be her biological father. He had her birth certificate, her social security card, a handful of photos, and a paternity test validating his claim. For the two years that followed, there were few questions posed in regard to his motives and seemingly instantaneous desire for redemption as a father. That was, until Bucky's journey to psychological recovery landed him on the doorstep of the Avengers' Tower.
