Set in an AU where Ash returned to Kanto after travelling through Kalos (with many other differences as well). Many years later, a 19-year-old Ash is invited back to take part in the Pokémon Multi-Regional Championship, where the best Gym Leaders, Elite Four, Champions and other trainers come together to see who can be considered the best Pokémon trainer in the world. Every four years it takes place in a different region, and this time, it is to take place in Kalos. Ash has to come to grips with what he left behind in Kalos, particularly a special someone.

But two other people competing in this tournament are two of the newest members of the Sinnoh Elite Four, who have been in a relationship for over ten years.
