Juliet Conway is the girl everyone whispers about - the one with the eyeliner a little too dark. The one with her walkman always clipped to her jeans. The one with the scar on her knee from a skateboarding wipeout she never talks about. The one dating the bad boy in the senior class. She plays defense for the Ducks like she's got something to prove and figure skates alone at night like she's got something to forget. Most people see her leather jacket and cold glare and assume she's trouble.

They're not entirely wrong.

She cuts class when she's overwhelmed, mouths off to teachers when they push too hard, and never lets anyone - not even her brother Charlie - see her cry. But she is the first in her class. She listens to The Cranberries on full blast and writes like her pen is the only thing keeping her sane. Underneath it all, though, is a girl who feels too much, loves fiercely, and still waits for a dad who walked out too long ago.

To most, she's the rebel with sharp comebacks and bruised knuckles. But to Adam Banks, she's poetry on skates - guarded, brilliant, and worth every second it takes to earn her heart.
