Letting go

This story alternates between different POVs. I know it's not cannon, but I like to fantasize that Aonung and Neteyam had a secret relationship during the movie The Way of Water. This mini story is about that, while the movie concentrates on Tsireya and Lo'ak's relationship, my story focuses on the secret relationship that Aonung and Neteyam hid from everyone. There are some parts of the movie in the story, but the rest is all mine. This is my first time writing one so be patient with me. (DISCLAIMER: THE COVER PHOTO IS NOT MY ARTWORK.)

What do you do when all you were taught goes out the window? When you're forced to choose between your heart or your head? Would you risk it all for the one you love? Or would you risk the love of your life to protect the position you were forced to respect? Neteyam and Aonung find themselves in a rather complicated situation. Their love for each other is strong, but their love for the clan is stronger. Neteyam, with nothing left to lose is ready to put it all on the line for Aonung's love..... But Aonung, he has everything to lose. He wasn't afforded the luxury of free will like Neteyam was, but he doesn't want to lose him either. He's faced with a choice he never thought he'd make. And when the time comes, will he choose to lose Neteyam forever to please his people? Or will he choose Neteyam and lose all fears of being rejected?
