"Come with me," she urged, stepping even closer, her perfume enveloping him. "Leave her to her misery. Come home with me, Zevran. Let me take care of you tonight. You deserve peace. You deserve... love."
Finally, he turned his head towards her. His dark eyes met hers, empty of desire, empty of even anger - holding only a quiet, impenetrable truth.
"There is no 'home' with you, Rihanna," he said calmly, his voice low and rumbling with exhaustion. "And there is no peace away from her."
Her lips trembled, twisting into a bitter smile as her eyes filled with frustrated tears. "You still love her," she spat quietly, shaking her head. "Even when she hates you. Even when she tries to die just to get away from you."
"Yes." His answer was simple, unwavering, final.
A humourless laugh escaped her throat as she stepped back, shaking her head again as tears spilled down her cheeks despite her mascara's resistance. "She's going to kill you one day, Zevran," she whispered, her voice trembling with rage and grief. "She's going to keep cutting and bleeding until you break apart trying to hold her together."
His eyes softened faintly at her words, the corner of his lips twitching into a tired almost-smile. "Then I will keep holding her together until my last breath."

I tried touching him, but he stiffened from my touch. I stepped away from him and now my back was facing him. "Why?," I questioned. "I have my reasons," he retorted.
