Khana Whilhelm was born blind.
Her parents are prejudice to the world.
They say having a blind daughter is a curse. So they told everyone that the baby died at birth. 
Instead of killing Khana or setting her up for adoption they just kept her locked up inside.

Dean Cather is curious about his neighbors. He knows that the Whilhelms are a family of two, but why do they buy teen clothes, buy food for more than two people, and buying lady items which Mrs. Whilhelm does not need for she is too old for her cycle.
Dean begins to question his neighbors. He remembers Mrs. Whilhelm being pregnant , he saw her carrying the child into the house one night.
Why are they hiding their child?
