a world full of people who are deemed either functioning or broken, each time they are considered " broken " their hearts are taken ( which doesn't kill them, but rather changes them into a numb state ) and brought to a junk yard/shop in order to be crushed further. A young boy gets his heart broken, deeming him " broken ", but despite having his heart taken away he failed to lack emotion afterwards. He then goes on a chase to get his heart back before it's crushed and too late, hoping that in time he can get to it without any issues. Along the way he hears stories of those who lost their hearts.
