Child of Ashes

Askeladd, the battle hardened Viking, never cared to raise a family, but he ended up with a child nonetheless. After joining her father's crew, she meets a young Thorfinn who has been on a quest for revenge. The two children soon become nemeses and spend years trying to best each other up until they meet the Prince Canute who turns Lydia's life upside down.

This will contain X Thorfinn and X Canute content.
I will be keeping to the main plot of the story for basically all of it and I will be attempting to keep all Vinland Saga characters as in character as possible. I will be doing deeper dives into Askaladd and Bjorn in particular and there will be some ooc things there just cause I wanted more content with them in the original story.

This is about an OC if you hadn't noticed. However, feel free to use this as a X Reader fic if you so wish. I just prefer writing OC's because whenever something dramatic happens I hate using Y/N instead of an actual name.

Forewarning this character has two names, Lydia (her birth name) and Gisli (her male name) and uses both male and female pronouns for a portion of this fic. She is however, female at birth, and only uses a male name to protect her identity. She is Askaladd's daughter so she has a set appearance, light brown hair, same eye color as Askaladd, same height as Thorfinn. If you want to read this as a X reader then you can ignore that if you want to.
