Serendipity. The mere sound of it makes Sere (Pronounced Sarah) Mystic Berk get all bubbly inside. Maybe it's because it's her name, or maybe it's because how she got her name; by being that one unexplainable thing right there, magically, when Mammy needed it. Mammy had been taking care of Sere ever since she found her, 3 weeks old, on the side of the road, just about outside of Mystic Ave., the home for the crazy. Mistic isn't exactly an avenue, more like a mini town inside a larger one. One hundred years ago, the people of the larger town created Mystic as a place for the crazy. "It was made for the crazy and will forever be for the crazy." Mammy said. But Sere didn't see crazy as a bad thing, they all saw things differently, did them differently, said them differently- what was wrong with that? They just kept things interesting. But the point of what Mammy said was this; no one who belongs at Mystic left Mystic, and those who didn't belong rarely came. Sere's parents were the only ones who got away from Mystic that Sere had heard of. But they got away from everything; even her. And no one got away from Serendipity, everyone had their own path, but some weaved into others. And Serendipity was always on the journey, the tail. And now it's time for 15-year-old Sere to learn her reason, her tail. What god was planning for HER. It's something she's been wanting to find out for 15 years. Why she was left, why she had finally gotten out of Mystic as a little 3-week-old, only to be pulled back in, and why she was here. Because we all ask ourselves that; why? "Location always seems so important, like where we started. But the only thing that matters with location is where we end. And what our purpose was. It doesn't matter if a criminal started at church, what matters is that he ended up in jail, with intentions of stealing, and maybe hurting. It's what we think that makes us who we are, but it should be what god wants." -Serendipity M. Berk
Elliot Jensen and Elliot Fintry have a lot in common. They share the same name, the same house, the same school, oh and they hate each other but, as they will quickly learn, there is a fine line between love and hate.
