The grove was sacred. But now, no longer. Corpses lie along the land, their faces frozen in silent screams of anguish and torment, the smell of blood, metallic and coppery, tarnishing the once fresh, earthy aroma of the peaceful woods, the mystical creatures' home. In Vael'thalor, a kingdom of immortal legacy and dying truth, Elessara - a half-human, half-elven knight- uncovers something she was never meant to see: a massacre drenched in illusion, lies carved to look like truth, and orders that demand silence over honor. A decision must be made, hastily. Will you stand with your kin, place a hand on top of theirs, and disregard all morality towards a kind you have been raised to despise... Or, must you open an eye to the sheer insanity of the council's orders? Elessara Thaelvir, Captain of the second regiment, is stirred into making a decision, one that has her teetering between the two worlds to which she, seemingly, never belongs.

Names of characters subject to change Boss is a single mother and the commander of a small squad of rebel agents who dream of putting an end to the corruption of those in power. In the face of food shortages and dwindling finances, the leaders of the rebellion have begun to take drastic action, which Boss has been strongly and vocally in opposition to. This voice of dissonance is not something they can afford to let go, and so an attempt is made of the lives of Boss and her subordinates. Those who survived the attempt owe it to a mysterious mage, who without knowing them or their cause, risked his life to help them get to safety. But there is no such thing as a good samaritan in times of turmoil such as these, and Boss is convinced that this sorcerer has ulterior motives. She has more immediate concerns however, such as a gift from the mythical ferryman, who asks that she kill on his behalf to prevent the greatest threat to survival that humanity has ever known.
