Set two years after the events of the previous arc, this midquel bridges the gap between Those Who Remain and the next season. Javier vanished without a word, leaving Clementine and the others behind. Consumed by guilt and chasing a mystery-coordinates found on a decayed scientist's corpse, marked only with the words "They knew"-Javier ventured off alone... and never came back.
Clementine believes he died chasing the coordinates but the truth is darker. Javier was captured by a brutal gang led by a man known only as The Emperor. Forced to fight for his life in a savage ring alongside other young prisoners, Javier's survival comes at the cost of his humanity. Back at Ericson's, Clementine, AJ, Louis, and the others continue to struggle through the harsh world around them, haunted by the people they've lost.
