Kathy Lane has just turned 17. She's lived in Woodsville,  Iowa her whole life until a devastating tornado struck her town, nearly destroying every home in sight. Her parents were killed and her 20-year old sister, Marcy was left paralyzed from the waist down. Fortunately, Kathy only had a few broken ribs. The two are forced to leave the abolished town to live with their Aunt Marin in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Kathy has nothing to do there, given the fact that her sister can't do much anymore. Her life in Tulsa is pretty lame, 'til she meets a boy named Ponyboy that transforms her world and changes everything.
