Janet, a 31 year old woman, is looking for a roommate to share the load with paying rent and utilities in a modest sized apartment. Her employer recently cut overtime in half, which meant Janet would need help paying her rent. Janet puts out an ad in the local newspaper for prospective roommates to help pay for the rent that Janet was normally able to pay on her own.
Katie is a 24 year old homeless woman who was recently kicked out of her family home because she came out as a lesbian, going against her family's deeply held religious doctrines that went against the very existence of such LGBTQIA+ individuals. Desperate to find somebody who would take her in, and treat her to a good meal, and help her in finding a more suitable job for herself, Katie would gladly work as somebody's maid to pay them back in return.
Katie meets Janet after responding to Janet's ad in the newspaper, and during her interview with Janet, Katie tells her about how her family has disowned her for being a lesbian, and that she's been homeless for about three months until just then after meeting Janet for the first time.
Janet feels for the young woman, and wants to help. She decides she doesn't need to interview any more candidates, and agrees to take Katie into her home. After several months living together, Katie and Janet find that they have more in common than being roommates. Janet is the first to make a move, and Katie reciprocates it. But Janet has a secret that she doesn't want Katie to find out, at least not until she has a chance to explain it beforehand. Will Katie find out Janet's secret? Will Janet put their love on the line when her secret is revealed? Will it make Katie want to leave Janet and run for the hills? Find out in this tale of a lesbian love that almost never happened if it hadn't been that Janet needed a roommate. Find out whether Katie is compassionate and understanding when Janet's secret is no longer a secret to her!
