Her dress is the color of freshly fallen snow, her short hair the color of the clouds. I stare at her mangled frame, startled at how she looked as though she was thrown onto the entryway. It's as if she was doll that was no longer of use to a spoiled child. She looks beaten, and bruised. Bart tries to hold me back as I fling the carriage door open, running to her side. She is beautiful.
"Lord Nathaniel!" Bart cries, stumbling out of the coach and zooming to my left. I ignore him and smile when I see her lovely face. I place a hand under her head and gently pull her upwards.
"Nathaniel!" Bart screams once more. I turn to him, his glasses sliding off of his nose, and place a finger to my lips. I use that hand to brush her hair from her eyes, but the moment I touch her face, chills run down my back, causing me to let out a gasp.
Her eyelids shoot open.
Terror, happiness, confusion and fear flood my head as I immediately grab her face and pull it to mine. Her lips were cool and soft. Thats when a thought pulses through me.
Who is she?
A small hand digs into my coat as I deepen the kiss. She plunges a silver dagger into my chest. Blood begins to ooze from my dress shirt and onto the stones. I grin, her lips still on mine.
And why does she want me dead?
Ari and Soren's adventures continue as Soren struggles with his new vampiric urges and a coven of witches attempts to recruit Ari for their own ends.
*****
As dark dreams plague Soren, Ari finds his new abilities difficult to control. Something is awakening within him, and as his power grows, he attracts the attention of a group of witches who call themselves the Hecataeon. They believe Ari is an emanation of the goddess Hecate - a physical manifestation of her power - and they want that power for themselves. With their relationship facing challenges from within, Ari and Soren must find a way to unite their strengths before external forces tear them apart.
