Looking back on it, Jimmy blames the garden for everything that's happened. After all, that's where he found the box, which led to Deepfrost, which led to this whole spiral of backsliding further and further away from the warmth of life. It had all started simply enough- with a dungeon, and with a goal- and had, over time, meandered into a world of beasts and bosses and dangers that Jimmy never had fully been able to grasp until it was too late, until he learned what Deepfrost REALLY was. But, that's a little too close to the end of the story. Let's rewind things back to the start, back to the beginning of the game known as Deepfrost. Let's talk about the first runs, the first deadly encounters, the first small victories. Or . . . perhaps you should be left to discover that on your own. After all, Deepfrost is a game that prides itself in its own immersive experience . . . in more ways than one. --- Deepfrost is an AU that is a crossover of the games Inscryption (by Daniel Mullins) and Decked Out 2 (by Tango Tek). You don't need to know anything about either of these to enjoy this story. If you don't want spoilers for the level design of Decked Out 2 or the layout of Act 2 and some of the overarching lore of Inscryption, I would consider not reading this fic, or at least leaving it for later :]

No one remembers when it began. There was no explosion. No warning. No moment the world officially ended. Just a signal. A pattern that shouldn't exist... yet somehow does. People started seeing things. Hearing things. Forgetting things. And then- They started disappearing. Not all at once. Not loudly. Quietly. As if they were never meant to be here. Samuel knows something is wrong. Ria feels it getting closer. But the truth is far worse than either of them can understand. Because this isn't the end of the world. It's something else. Something older. Something that was always there. Watching. Waiting. Choosing. And now... It's choosing again.
