Jourdan Mathews has a secret, and she knows she needs to take this one to the grave. * * * Her life was never complicated: a college student with a close family, good friends, and a plan for her future as a doctor. Had that night had never happened, she might even have been called ordinary. But we're not made by ordinary moments. Now in her senior year, Jourdan is in freefall after a catalyzing summer that turned everything upside-down. Her friends know she's in trouble, and her parents hope they've done enough to save her, but Jourdan doesn't feel anything anymore. They say moving on happens slowly, but something needs to change fast before life moves on without her. Ryder Harris considers his life to be the farthest thing from "ordinary." He isn't just the kind-of-good basketball player that made him popular in high school. He is the kind-of-great that comes along once in a generation, a fact that has propelled him on a course which only attempts to reach for the stars. If you ask him, this isn't luck or special talent. No, Ryder Harris makes a point to focus himself, to remain undistracted. He's got priorities, and at the very top of his list is being drafted into the NBA. That dream is very close to becoming a reality his senior year, so close he can almost taste it. But the universe has a nasty habit of giving us what we need, not what we want. * * * part I - Jourdan & Ryder * * * Every Saint Needs a Sinner. Copyright. © May 2022. All Rights Reserved.

For those of you that requested it, this is the spin off from Still that answers the question about what could have happened if Luke went to Hawaii instead of Grayson. This story is dedicated to two of my most faithful readers, BlueDevils3, who had the idea and lillianwilson13 who seconded it. Luke Kennard was just drafted in the first round of the NBA draft. He's finally achieved his dreams. And he's got more girls than he can handle. But what if the one girl he doesn't have is the one he really needs. Grayson Allen is struggling. He's headed back to Duke. His girlfriend and his best friend have left him. And he's not interested in snapping out of his funk quite yet. He never makes things easy for himself and he's about to demonstrate that fact. Cait Callahan is hard at work training for the Olympics. But her boyfriend is flaking out on her and their relationship seems to be hitting the skids. She makes one last ditch effort to save it, but things don't work out at all the way she planned.
