Kidnapped for 20 years, April wakes up one night to a funny feeling. Unknowingly, she and a part of the world gained magical abilities. Most of the population was murdered by others trying to abuse their powers or by creatures mutated beyond wildest nightmares. Using her newfound powers, she escapes the cellar where she spent most of her life being tortured and abused. Trying to understand a world she never knew while trying to evade the people who kept her chained, determined to get her back, April tries her best to stay alive and learn about the new world. Along the way, she learns that even though the only form of love she knew was pain and torture, there may just be someone else out there who helps her heal, who can show her how love can truly be. Can she explore this new dystopian world while staying away from the people who just want her back to "play"? Will this new horrific, dangerous world be ready for the girl who finally found her strength?
