Love - a divine gift from the heavens - cannot be seen, touched, or heard.
It can only be felt.
It whispers in the silence of the soul and breathes in the spaces between heartbeats.

God bestows eternal blessings upon those who truly believe in love or love someone with pure intentions.
Love doesn't arrive at our command - it unfolds only when destiny introduces us to the right person.
Together, they walk through the sacred trials of love, tested by fate and blessed by the divine.
Only then, do they earn their "happily ever after."

At least, that's what Rooh Agarwal once believed.

But that vibrant, radiant girl - full of dreams and belief - has vanished.
Buried somewhere beneath the ashes of time and heartbreak.

Today, Rooh Agarwal is a name that evokes fear, not warmth.
She is the cold, untouchable face of fame - powerful, revered, and completely emotionless.
To her, God is a fable for the weak. If He exists, He must surely be blind... and deaf.
And love? Just another fairytale for fools.
Happy endings? A cruel joke played by the universe.

What shattered her so completely?
What storm turned her into this stranger?
No one knows...

Will love ever dare to touch her heart again?
Will she ever believe in miracles - or in God - once more?

The answers lie ahead...
Let the story unfold.

He was waiting outside the OP, there for his student who had been injured during a fight over a phone. As he sat, casually glancing at his own phone, he suddenly heard the faint sound of a baby crying. Curious, he turned toward the sound-and froze. There, outside the pediatric care unit, sat his wife with their son crying in her arms. His heart ached-it had been months since he last saw his son. His gaze shifted to his wife, gently consoling the child. Her face looked tired, pale, and completely drained. Without a second thought, he stood, tears welling in his eyes. Each step he took felt heavy, his chest tightening with every cry from his son. As he neared, he saw her clothes were faded and worn. Her feet were bare, hardened from walking-clearly straight from the farm. His heart clenched. His eyes moved to his son-he had grown so much. She was so focused on calming the baby that she didn't notice him at first. Tears filled her eyes as she held their feverish child close. He softly called her name. Startled, she looked up-and froze. Then she quickly lowered her gaze and tried to get up. He gently placed a hand on her shoulder, stopping her. She sat back down, turning her face away, quietly wiping her tears. He reached out to take their son. The moment he held him, he felt the heat-his little body was burning with fever. A chill ran through him. After all these months, seeing his child like this was unbearable. He loved his wife and son deeply, but his loyalty to his mother-and obedience to her word-always came first. Between a mother who owned his soul and a wife who held his heart, he was a man torn in a cruel war of love and loyalty. And she-she had given her all to a promise whispered beneath the sacred fire... never knowing that one day, she'd be holding her child, with nothing but a faded vow.

"I know it was wrong for me to force you into this marriage. I'll file a request for annulment." I added half-heartedly, knowing that I'll die without her and she doesn't want to live with me "You will really give me divorce?" She asked as her fork stopped midway forgotten. "You were right we both need to move on. I cannot force you to live with me because of our past. I know I hurt you bad in the past and that I am still hurting you. You wanted to end this marriage, I'll free you from this forced union." I added. "You are leaving again?" she asked, pain etched all over her face. "Eventually." "You don't have to leave." "I can't stay here. I always end up hurting you. And I love you too much to see you in pain." "When will you be leaving?" She asked. "After the term ends. I promised Pranay uncle teach till the end of this term." I said walking away from the dining table. She just hummed. After a pause she suddenly asked "Why did you leave me Neev? Not once, but twice." I turned and looked at her. "Ari....I..." I stammered. "Please. I need to know. I cannot kept doing this. You cannot waltz in and out of my life every time things get difficult. I need to know why you left me all those years back. I had lost mom already. You abandoned me when I needed you the most. I need closure. I cannot spend every moment to my life wondering why you left me." She pleaded. "Because I killed her..." I cried further breaking down. "I killed your mother." * * *

Once upon a time, men and women entered marriage with very clear policies regarding the division of labour: he would go to work and "bring home the bacon," while she would stay at home and cook, clean, and raise the children. Things aren't the same as they used to be. Modern Indian romance, intimacies, and marriages are far more complicated than assessments and reality television shows portray. In India, arranged marriages are an unique and complex process. People seek a 'soulmate' with whom they can spend the rest of their lives, but they also have specific expectations of the potential bride or groom. There is a strong narrative about finding love, compatibility, and connection, but what stands out is a real intent to replicate class identities beneath all of this. In a country that depends on a spending population, "middle class" is a necessary armour, a shared language, a value system, and, more importantly, a way of life. Life may be unjust, irritating, and disarmingly disappointing on most days. Being middle class, on the other hand, creates character in a culture obsessed with the need to be a part of the rat race. Marriage also places the onus of making sacrifices, concessions, and making the marriage work on the couple. This tale illuminates the unseen and underappreciated aspects of an Indian arranged marriage, the life of a middle-class wife and husband and their shared responsibilities as they navigate through life. Immense amount of desi tadka awaiting your way. *I don't own the illustration on the poster.*
