"My name is Jisung."

Minho's grip on the book tightens. That name doesn't belong in this house. It's foreign and warm and human, and it doesn't belong.

"I didn't ask."

Jisung swallows, whether it's the juice or his pride, Minho doesn't know.
More silence. It drapes over them like mist. Even Iris lowers her head slightly, although her eyes remain open, tracking every twitch of Jisung's hand.

Finally, Jisung exhales and leans back into the cushions, wincing. "You're right. You didn't ask. But you did save my life. And I just... I thought you might want to know who you're saving."

Minho closes the book.

Not gently.

"You think I care?" he asks. His voice is low, his eyebrows are furrowed, dangerous. "You think giving me your name makes this better? Makes you less of a threat?"

Jisung says nothing.

Minho rises, the book forgotten on the armchair. "You can eat. You can breathe. You can sleep under my roof. But don't mistake that for kindness."
