The promise of the lake

1912. A lake. An accident. Two boys. A promise whispered in the hush of childhood.
Ben and Evan met when they were six, in a world unprepared for their light.
But time moves forward. War darkens the horizon. Innocence begins to fray.

When Evan wakes, he is alone in a sanatorium.
The lake is gone from his memory.
Ben too.
Only pain remains - and a silence that wraps too tightly around the truth.

As fragments of memory resurface and unspoken truths begin to bleed through,
a plan to escape takes root.
