When 23-year-old Calla Vex, a struggling law student with a sarcastic streak and an unhealthy obsession with true crime, drunkenly signs away her soul in exchange for "peace of mind," she never expects Satan to actually show up. But he does-and oddly fast. At first, it seems like the bargain works: her anxiety fades, her grades improve, and her sleep is dreamless.
But when Satan comes back a week later-looking frazzled and more than a little disturbed-he asks to undo the deal. Apparently, Calla's soul is too chaotic, too twisted, even for the Lord of Darkness himself.
Unfortunately for him, Calla read the fine print.
Now hunted by Hell's bureaucracy and pursued by demon "return agents" desperate to fix the unholy mistake, Calla must navigate a surreal, infernal mess-armed only with her morbid wit, a cursed espresso machine, and her very broken but very powerful soul.
