'The world forgot her day, just like they forgot her.'
Born on February 29th, Elara officially "exists" only once every four years. Every time the date passes, the world seems to forget her. Her name vanishes from records, her face fades from memories and her very presence begins to blur.
On the fifth leap year since losing her parents, Elara boards a cruise which is the last place she was seen in a faded old photo with her parents. There, she plans to end her life, certain that no one would notice she's gone.
But, just before she jumps into the sea, a mysterious message flashes on her phone. Short, but striking;
"If you jump, the world will never know what it lost."
That message not only saves her, but draws her into a greater mystery; about who she really is, why the world forgets her and who the "unknown" is... someone who knows far too much about her.

edit (7/6/23): bro what is this story? plot execution sucks fr 😭 A hard-working widow, Charlotte Wormwood, lost her daughter in a tragic accident. 20 years later, she stumbles across a homeless girl who appeared to have the same birthmarks as her deceased daughter! She appeared to have knowledge of her daughter's past life! Charlotte tries to solve the mystery of her daughter's death and the peculiar girl. She gets trapped in a morbid time machine which travels her to 1945, the year on her daughter's death, to try to save her from the events. Could this all be a coincidence or just some weird hoax? ----------------------------------------------------------------- Everyone has there own secrets. Some are dark and morbid, even when everyone in your town talks about it. You swore to secrecy that they wouldn't tattle, but you sometimes can't trust them, even if something goes terribly wrong that the truth has to be uncovered.... Warning: contains violence in some scenes. I have no interest or intention in actually killing someone or something. This is just a book I like to write and criminal minds in the '40s-'60s got me thinking of writing my very first book (which is this one). In my world you have to be one of the Elite. After graduating from 8th grade it is a shitshow. You wait long intense nights filled with fear because you know one day they will come for you. They will get you mark my words on that. One day you will be ripped away from the comforts of your own home and shipped away to the cruise. None of the adults speak of what happens on the cruise. I can tell based off of the haunted look in there eyes it's nothing good. I've heard tall tales of a place full of hopes and dreams. They call this place High school. High school is just that though...a dream. In the real world all we have is the cruise. The cruise where some never return from. In my world it is survival of the fittest.
