In a nation forged by tradition and bound by duty, Crown Princess Catalina Liora de Aragon trains in the military to prepare for her future as queen. But when a brilliant trauma doctor, Diana Forchester, is assigned to the royal camp, Catalina's orderly world begins to unravel. Between stolen glances and battlefield scars, a forbidden tension brews. Their attraction is a dangerous defiance in a nation that punishes love like theirs. As politics close in and watchful eyes multiply, one kiss could spark scandal-or start a revolution. In Velancia, love is treason. But Catalina must decide: is the crown worth more than the woman who makes her feel free?

"She was born to rule and raised to wear the crown. I was trained to heal her wounds. But nothing prepared us for the ache we carried in silence. In a world of honor and salutes, will love become our greatest betrayal?"

Aurora opens her eyes only to feel the agonising pain in her body. That is to be expected when there has been an accident. It's excruciatingly painful. Aurora groans in pain and pulls off the blanket, taking in her surroundings. It is more appropriate for a hospital interior design to look to the mediaeval era. Not shabby, but more on the extravagant side. The nurses' attire, on the other hand, appears odd. Someone said out of nowhere, "Her Grace, please wake up! Call the doctor right away!" Aurora approaches the mirror and looks at the woman with deep red eyes in it. The woman had blonde hair that, while a little messy, flowed perfectly over her shoulder. Her fair complexion lends her an ethereal appearance. Not to mention that her outfits make her look like a noblewoman from a historical series. She pinches herself, only to realise that the blonde woman staring at her is herself. A thought struck her mind, as she utters her first statement in this world, "Fuck me". Medea has finished her work, but she is still unsure how to fix all of the messes. She hasn't been herself in a long time, and it's bothering her. The throne seems so far away, and the weight of the burden grows heavier with each passing day. A letter from the Imperial Palace has arrived, instructing the Duchess to look after the House of Smith's Duchess of Light, Natalie Wilson Smith. As an evil scheme was about to unfold, she smiled wickedly. 'This is my new card.' p/s: I can't find the original owner of the photo of the cover, if you know or you are the owner of the cover. Always willing to put herself last, Catalina Juárez has never rocked the boat. But that all changes when her father insists she marry a man she cannot stand to be near. Hopping into a carriage for hire, she spends the last of her money on a ride to nowhere. Because this mysterious carriage has one rule: you go where it takes you. Well, that was a waste of money, because she isn't even to the edge of town before she's unceremoniously dumped off at a train station. With no money to buy a ticket and no time to think of another plan, Catalina pushes through the crowd and onto the train. Marcos Caballero has never met a problem he didn't want to solve. Traveling alone on a ticket meant for him and a woman who didn't want to be with him, he's taken in by the scared, doe-eyed look of the woman in the dining carriage. She's ticketless and alone; he's lonely and has an excess ticket. Stepping in to save her, he claims her as his wife, not really expecting her to play along past the point of danger. But she quickly steps into the role with ease, acting as if they've known each other their whole lives. Somehow, it seems like they might have. But being on the run from troublesome and powerful fathers isn't without its struggles, and Catalina and Marcos are going to have to decide how much they are willing to risk to put love ahead of duty. ~ * ~ * ~ This is one of the five novellas I'll be writing for this year's ONC! You can find the rest (Hang it Up, Christmas at the Cabin, Love Lies & Red Eyes, and I Don't Want to be Queen) on my profile! For this story, I selected prompt 9. "There's an urban legend that's been circulating for years about a taxicab that doesn't take you where you want to go, but where you need to go. One night, you stepped into this cab." Except make it pre-car-era.

When duty is the only choice, can love survive the silence? Krystal De Roma is a brilliant, ambitious Filipino student, whose sole focus is her dream of becoming a doctor. Her Royal Highness Leonor de Borbón Ortiz, the heir to the Spanish throne, is poised, disciplined, and utterly confined by the demands of a future Queen. Their worlds should never have collided, but during a 3 month-long cultural exchange program in Wales, they found in each other a solace and a fierce, forbidden connection neither could deny. What started as a shared academic journey quickly spiraled into a love defined by late nights, stolen moments, and the looming reality of a relationship that could shatter two kingdoms. Krystal's commitment to her medical vow and Leonor's duty to her Crown create a choice that feels impossible: choose their future together, or choose the paths they were born into. When the program is reaching its end, Krystal makes the devastating decision to walk away, retreating to the demanding world of her life in Baguio to build the life she promised herself. Leonor, meanwhile, trades her girlhood for military training and constitutional law, hardening herself to become the Queen Spain demands. Three years of painful silence, relentless ambition, and mounting regret later, their paths violently cross again in Manila. Leonor returns not as the tentative Princess Krystal once knew, but as an heir forged in discipline, ready to rule. She presents Krystal with an ultimatum: abandon the hesitation and choose their future now, or lose her forever. On the very night Krystal achieves her lifelong dream of graduation, she is forced to confront the truth her heart has been hiding. Her silence is the answer.
