"Hanahaki is a disease born from unrequited love, where the patient vomits and coughs up flower petals that eventually transform into full-fledged flowers. Although the infection can be removed through surgery, the feelings associated with the love also fade away along with the flowers. In the same vein, Lance McClain accidentally develops a crush on his fellow team mate named Keith. This crush leads to a disease, where he experiences a simultaneous mix of love and hatred for the color red. The roses become both a source of pain and solitude for him.
