They said the fire took his mother. That the past was ash, and he was lucky to have survived. But Rin always knew something wasn't right.

Adopted by the cold yet noble demon lord, Hisashi Yukimura, Rin grew up quiet, distant, and haunted by a past he couldn't piece together. But when fragments of memory return, so does the truth: his mother wasn't lost in an accident. She was murdered.

Everything Rin believed begins to unravel. He's consumed by the need to know who did it-and why.

But like all things, truth comes at a cost. Rin steps onto a dark path, driven by vengeance and a thirst for answers.

The deeper he digs, the more he loses himself... and pushes away those who care about him most. Especially her.

Will revenge bring him peace or destroy what little remains of the boy he once was?

Rin never remembered much about her family. Small flickers of memories come as sparks rarely, but she never could see a focused image. She remembered one thing solidly. The eyes. Her mothers eyes. Her sisters and brothers eyes. They were gold. Like hers. They could almost glow. But her father, they were red. Almost a pink tint. They narrowed to snake like slits when he was angry, but he never quite yelled. His voice would just drop like a stone in deep water, and he'd raise his chin. And she remembered he was often cruel. Not to her mother. Never to her mother. That was one of the things Rin had known even better than how to breath. He had left them she was about three. She had a sister. A twin sister. Dark indigo hair, long enough to brush the ground when sitting on the floor. A little brother. Hair as black as night, and soft curls around his forehead. And her mother. She nearly died of childbirth and was ill after delivering her last child, and the twins had to provide for the four of them at only twelve. But that only lasted three years. The family was massacred. The seven year old eaten alive in front of Rin. Her sister ran when she got the chance, and the demon held her in place as her clothes were slowly ripped off of her, the rainfall drowning out the sound of her screams. She was left alive, partially naked, bleeding from scratches and bitemarks that were sucked for hours. She survived that. Somehow. If she had a choice, she never would've wanted to. Now she couldn't hear rain without breaking down. And she never wanted to be touched. Until she met him, a fiery ball of kindness and enthusiasm. And those golden eyes that lit up everything dark in her soul. His occupation was to kill those that shared her blood. But he was different. He was there when she couldn't get oxygen in her lungs, and there when she had no one else. She didn't want to lose this. He can't know. ⚠SPOILRS, GORE, ADULY LANGUAGE, SEXUAL CONTENT, PANIC ATTACKS, S.A.⚠ 18+
