The weight of a feather

In an underground world deprived of sun and water Craving's maddening whispers are never silent. It urges to reach for the sky. Rhithral-blue blood that flows in the roots-is the only reachable form of heavens for many. The earth that creatures of this world call Mother, spreads this azure liquid and assures survival to everyone taking hold of her veins. And on a three-tiered world the privilege to taste the grace of the motherly Heart-Rhithral's essence-falls on very few.

Wilt ravages the world, apocalyptic drought caused by the Arans kills everything in its path. Only two beings avoid this fate. An extraordinary child finds itself under Teyl's care among the ruins. Sapphire eyes shining from the swaddles herald the upcoming disruption of the current order. Though Cetia's blue feathers reassure Teyl about his oath given many years ago, they do not free him from Craving's influence. Bitter and tired he is forced to reach for the sky, many others follow in his wake, seeing Cetia as their key to paradise. The lure of heavens never ends. It blinds and strips from empathy. A constantly rushed world knows only one truth.

Craving is such a dreadful fear.
