"Then tell me what it was."

The demand cracked through the silence like a thrown shield.

For a heartbeat, we just stared at each other. Him, furious and certain. Me, perfectly calm.

Then I smiled, soft and cold. "No."

His eyes darkened. "Why?"

"Because you don't get to know everything about me," I said lightly, almost playfully. "I'm sure that drives you insane, but some of us don't want our whole lives exposed in a museum."

That one landed. His breath caught, his stance faltering for just a second.
