Breathless Until You

Lyndon no longer wished to live. In truth, he had long been dead inside. Though he feared the idea of his own death, he hired someone to kill him-on the condition that he would not know when it would happen. But the one he hired gave him a final offer: a month's grace period. After that, they would speak again to decide whether to go through with it. Left with no better option, he agreed.

Then one night, as he was walking down an empty road, a speeding car came barreling toward him. He didn't flinch. He was ready-welcoming the end. But the car screeched to a halt. From it stepped a woman named Constantine, who simply asked, "Are you certain this is what you want?"

Without hesitation, he said yes.

She got back into the car, reversed to gain momentum-ready to end his life as he wished. But in that split second, he stepped aside.

It was that night, in that moment of sudden resistance, that he realized something had shifted. Perhaps he wasn't ready to die. Perhaps he wanted answers. And strangely, it was her presence that sparked the quiet, aching desire to live again.
