MICHAENG: THE SYLVAN MAW

The Appalachian Mountains are ancient, their forests even older. People say they are beautiful, but their beauty hides a cold, hungry secret. The locals know the stories: whispers on winds that aren't there, shadows that move when no one is watching, and a silence that swallows sound whole.

This forest takes. Hikers, hunters, even curious wanderers - they simply vanish. No trace. Just gone, as if the woods opened its mouth and took them. The forest doesn't give back what it claims. It keeps it.

And sometimes, on the stillest nights, you can feel it. A faint, cold breath rising from the deep, dark heart of the trees. The breath of the Sylvan Maw, waiting. Always waiting.
