Bent Nixon is a transgender man and one of three triplets. He grew up with his family in the suburbs of Saskatchewan but moves to a rural town in Alberta with his friend Big O, and his family. The group all earn jobs at the local high school and hope to forget about their dramatic pasts. Bent tries to build a healthy family with his boyfriend, Jesse Grippy, and their 14 year old son, Huckleberry Slime Bomb. But one early morning near the end of June, everything drastically changes for Bent.

Hayden is top of his class in school. He's smart, talented, and committed to making his parents proud. He hides every part of himself but his knowledge away in dark corners, keeping it invisible to everyone else. At night, when no one's watching, he drowns his stress in children's toys and cartoons, trying to keep his mind sharp for school.
