The way we fall

I met Eric at a skating rink when I was fourteen.
He flirted. I fell.
He didn't. Not really.

For four years, we were best friends - with just enough mixed signals to mess me up.
He didn't want a relationship. I didn't want to wait forever.
So I moved on. Got a boyfriend. Tried to forget how good it felt when he looked at me like maybe.

Now that I'm finally over him, Eric decides he wants me.
Like... really wants me.

Too bad he's four years late.
