Waking up in a morgue hundreds of years in the future can be unsettling to anyone, even a vampire. Dazed & confused she has no idea how she got to this time and place or what her name is. This new world of robots and flying cars does not scare her but fascinates her as she learns to adept and survive. Her nightmares give her some clues of her past but for every mystery she unlocks a new one appears. Oddly she encounters people that know her and can answer all her question. labyrinth of dreams
In the near future, scientists have created a device that allows people to enter a shared dream world - a mental labyrinth where dreams and fantasies are reality. The labyrinth is endless, full of fantastic landscapes, but also dark zones where nightmares take physical form. Ana, a young neuroscientist whose device is, takes her mother into dream labyrinths to see her husband, Ana's father, again. But after losing her brother in the labyrinth, she feels responsible and wants to find him. People can manipulate reality within the labyrinth, but too much control leads to a loss of identity. Beings within the labyrinth steal memories and parts of the personality. The labyrinth changes according to the subconscious fears and desires of the participants. During her adventure, she meets other participants who have become "prisoners of their dreams." She discovers that behind the labyrinth is a powerful artificial intelligence that uses human minds to evolve itself. Ana must find a balance between her own fears and the power of the labyrinth in order to save her brother and all the other participants, while maintaining her own personality.A

Applying his own approach in solving the mystery of the brain processes, a young aspiring computer engineering student begins the development of a conscious program called "Baby Genius", which he intends as a residing companion (an assistant) on every computer system. The program is a preparation for his senior project proposal in college and supposes to be his masterpiece. With his star algorithm pattern, he hopes to make his program imitate human consciousness (Natural Intelligence) to maximize human interaction with computer machines. After years of developing his Baby Genius AI, everything has been working beautifully until something has gone wrong at the actual presentation. The frustration forces him to set aside the project, and, after graduation, starts a job at a small privately funded robotics company that manufactures practical working AI robots. He thinks his masterpiece is a failure, until few years has passed and he comes face to face with his own creation; she turns out as a perfect woman who eventually shows him the way in realizing his greatest achievement: to save the world from its impending man-made doom, the lust of mankind called greed. Warning: The crazy procedure in creating a conscious program is discussed with a bit of detail in this book.
