Rose is a wolf shifter who finds her mate on her 18th birthday, but Fate has other plans.

After working through her grief, getting an education, and making friends along the way, Rose eventually returns home to see what exactly destiny has in store for her. She has had many little adventures while she was gone, but it is time she returns to her family and confronts the ghost of her past.
Rose spends ten years on a journey to healing and making lifelong friends. Along the way, she meets a panther shifter who becomes her family while she is away. They eventually come across a pack of misfits and make it their home. In this pack, he ends up finding his second chance. After the pain and betrayal he suffered, he never expected to find her, to find happiness.
After all these years away, Rose finds it is time to go back to Dark Hollow. She finds herself heading home when her childhood friend and his mate prepare to give birth to their first pups. She could never miss something so wonderful. The future of their pack.
No matter what happens in the end, happiness reigns. Through loss and pain comes the good, the smiles, and the happiness everyone seeks. Life continues, and future generations are born to carry it on. Though Dark Hollow and Rose have suffered loss, they have found happiness. Their happily ever after isn't unattainable.
