Astronaut Lance Hartman is on the first manned interstellar voyage in history.  The mission is expected to take at least twenty years. Twelve light years away in the Tau Ceti system, there is only a four hour window of time in which communication is possible with Earth. Now, Lance is getting ready for the one and only conversation he will have with his wife for the entire duration of the voyage.

Humanity's enemy the Preshk where attacking more often and Ezra wanted to be contributing directly to the war effort. Instead he got put on a Scout ship with just one other soul and sent on a five month mission out into deep space. The mission quickly becomes more than the young commander could have ever expected and the fate of humanity lies in how fast he can return back to humanity. This short story is just over 18,000 words and contains sexual content between two men, so If that's not your cup of tea.. don't read :) This is my first attempt at something like this, so feedback is welcome, though be nice :)
