Genesis and the other "books of Moses" (Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy) introduce the continuous story of Israel running through the first quarter of the Bible.
Genesis is traditionally attributed to Moses, the one who led the people of Israel out of Egypt.
