The world had already ended once when the dead started to walk-but for Rick Grimes, the second ending came the day he met her.

She wasn't supposed to be part of this. Too young. Too untouched by the horrors that aged everyone else overnight. Yet there she stood-quiet, steady, with eyes full of questions and a kind of innocence that had no business surviving in a place like this. And somehow, against everything he believed was right, Rick couldn't look away.

He told himself it was just protective instinct. That the pull in his chest was guilt, or maybe even fatherly. But when she smiled at him-just once, in a world where smiles were rare-he knew. It wasn't fatherly. It wasn't innocent.

It was dangerous.

And he was already too far gone.

𝙒𝙃𝙄𝙎𝙋𝙀𝙍𝙎 𝙄𝙉 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙋𝙄𝙉𝙀𝙎 »The forest never gave back what it took, until the night it gave us her.« -When the outbreak began, Mahayla survived with her family, moving like shadows through the ruins of the world. They were tough, resourceful, and for a time they thrived. But survival never came without a cost. A horde ripped her family away in one brutal night, leaving Mahayla with nothing but the weapons in her hands and the will to keep breathing. Alone, she hardened fast. Trust became a luxury, kindness a weakness. She learned to fight, to kill, to take what she needed without hesitation, alone. By the time Rick's group found her, she didn't beg for help, she didn't even want it. She followed them at a distance, wary and silent, blade always within reach. It wasn't loyalty that made her stay with them, but the simple fact that strength attracts strength. When they reached Alexandria, Mahayla crossed the gates with the same cold stare she had carried since the night her world burned. She wasn't looking for family or friends, she'd buried those with her past. But in this new place, with these battle-worn survivors, she found something she hadn't had in a long time: a chance to fight for more than just herself, and a spark with a boy in a sheriff's hat. The world didn't end in a bang. The world didn't end in a whisper. Instead, it ended one scream at a time. "You okay?" I heard someone say. I quickly stood up and held my cross bow out in front of me pointing it where the voice came from. "Woah, woah, put the cross bow down." I finally see the boy who was speaking, he looked about my age he has dark brown hair and ocean blue eyes. He wore a blue flannel and a brown cowboy hat. His eyes just made me melt, no, no Ava focus. I stared him down but he stared right back. "Just put it down, no one has to get hurt." I didn't listen to him I just kept aiming at his head. "What's your name?" The boy asked me. I don't understand why he keeps talking to me. I haven't listened. I just stared at him not able to even speak. "You don't talk much huh?" He asked. I just continued to stare at this boy. "Just put the weapon down and we can talk, I promise I won't hurt you." "Give me your gun." I said referring the gun he had in his holster. He pulled it out of his holster. "Put it on the ground in front of you." He did as I said and put it on the ground. "Kick it over here." I commanded. He again did what I asked and kicked the gun towards me. I swiftly bent down, never talking my eyes off the boy in the hat and picked up his gun. "You got anything else?" I asked. "You want to check?" He asked with a smirk plastered on his face. I rolled my eyes at this immature boy. "Do ya or no?" I asked getting frustrated. "I'm not telling you have to check." He told me the smirk never leaving his face. ~.~.~ When the world turns to shit, you learn not to trust anyone. Ava however is not like most people, she saw the good in Carl Grimes that day. She learns more from Carl and his group then she ever did out there. She learns that you need more then food and water and weapons, you need allies, you need friends that could just turn into family. It's not just about surviving anymore.

Welcome to season 2! This is a fanfiction of the Walking Dead show ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SNEAK PEEK! "I don't need no nurse to look after me," he snapped at me, angry, and I frowned at him. He turned away from me after looking down "Quit being a baby...it will only take a second Daryl," I told him, moving to stand where I knew he could see me. "What happened?....why are you avoiding me?'' I asked, seeing him turn to look away. "Daryl?" "You were right to want to kill em" Daryl finally spoke up with a whisper. I frowned and felt my breathing quicken with the idea. "He said somethin about... the men messing with some young girls. " He spoke, but I could hear the anger in his voice. "Beat the shit out of em just because of that..." He said and turned away from me. I thought that was it until he just kicked something of his over making a loud bang "son of a bitch" he snapped and sat down and held his head low. I walked over to him and stopped just a foot from him "what he said reminded me of....you..." he said and shook his head "Because of what happened to you...I remember how skiddish you were back then...if I had known what he was doin I would have beat the shit out of him too....I don't want that happening again..." he said and finally looked up to me. I didn't know what else to say. I just looked at him now knowing he cared about me more than he showed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *I DO NOT OWN ANY CHARACTERS FROM THE WALKING DEAD, OR STORYTELLING AND ALL CREDIT GOES TO ORIGINAL WRITERS AND SHOW.
